Principal, Barry Edholm, LEED AP

Barry Edholm is a founding partner of Antigua Properties (1997). He oversees all aspects of the residential and commercial project design and construction from concept to delivery.

Barry has spent nearly 30 years in design-build construction and development, working on and leading projects across the U.S. and Mexico. As Principal he identifies and oversees all of Antigua’s architects, design consultants, and contractors to ensure that every Antigua Signature Development is designed appropriately, efficiently, sustainably, and economically.

Barry’s early interest in sustainability led to LEEP AP certification and involvement with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Building Material and Reuse Association (BMRA). Finding better ways to build is always in the forefront of his mind. Barry brings experience and leadership and a keen eye on details, which leads to minimizing costs and waste, executing efficient time and cost budgets, and inspiring and demanding the highest level of craftsmanship and quality.

Barry attended BYU (Go Cougars!) and actively participates in continuing education courses in architectural and building science. Barry’s insatiable drive to create and his tireless work ethic are influenced in part by an artist mother, and a father who comes from several generations of Swedish master carpenters. A master craftsman in his own right, and an artist by avocation has led to not only aesthetic accomplishments, but an understanding of and appreciation for every professional and laborer who contributes to developing a piece of earth into a home or business. “We are not just building structures, we are building people” drives every decision Barry makes.

The declaration by Jacob Marley from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol that “mankind was my business” exemplifies an innate driving force throughout his entire life, molding Barry into the conscientious developer he has become today.

Simply put, he cares. Areas of a lifetime of service include teaching community urban gardening, farming techniques, and backyard poultry classes; service and leadership roles within his church; raising 6 children with his educator wife; and leading construction service projects in Peru. He also serves as a board member, with his business partner Evan Rogers, of Lucky Sevan Foundation, where Barry plays a significant role in developing curriculum; bringing in speakers dedicated to teaching, mentoring, rescuing, and empowering today’s youth; as well as in developing the foundation’s international expansion.
